Lodging needed for At-Risk and Exposed Populations
Dear Los Angeles Hotelier,
The County of Los Angeles is taking aggressive steps to slow the spread of the COVID-19 virus and has identified the need to arrange for accommodations for the health and safety of people who have been exposed to COVID-19 or are under medical quarantine.
For the sake of efficiency and administration, the County seeks the ability to purchase room blocks in a minimum quantity of 100 rooms at a time (or whatever number of rooms are remaining in a hotel, if the remainder is less than 100 rooms). The County would also be able to purchase significantly more than 100 rooms at a time if conditions require. In all cases, such purchase would be subject to the County’s discretion.
The County of Los Angeles is currently seeking hotels for the following categories:
- COVID-19 Response
- Quarantine: For asymptomatic individuals who have been exposed to COVID-19 and have to stay indoors for 14 days to show symptoms or recover (could become an isolation unit candidate if they become symptomatic).
- Isolation-Holding: For symptomatic individuals (e.g., flu, cough, fever) but who’s status related to COVID-19 is not confirmed (e.g., test results pending or otherwise).
- Isolation: For individuals who are confirmed to have contracted COVID-19 and who are experiencing mild to moderate sickness but are not in need of hospitalization. These individuals will require isolated housing until recovery, then require an additional 14-day quarantine.
- Persons Experiencing Homelessness
If you are a branded property, please check with your brand for any contractual issues of allowing your property to be utilized for this purpose.
If your property meets the current demand, you will be contacted directly by the County.
